Bentley Heath Cricket Club 1st XI squad
1st XI
Captain :
Ollie Hubbard
Genius.
Vice Captain :
Kashan Tirmizi
Big brother to the ‘Superstar’, Kashan ‘AL LEGENDE’ Tirmizi is quite simply a legend of the club!
Players
Syed Mohsin Ahmed
Imran Ali
Shon Alishah
Chetan Bakrania
Khuram Butt
Special K is an absolute one off! Mainly used as a bowler, k's ability to move the ball at pace is a real asset in the lower leagues. Has the ability to strike a long ball and score freely with the bat. Always gives 100% but certainly has a unique fielding style!
Craig Collis
Youngest in the long line of Collis' at Bentley Heath. A wicket keeper/Batsman who has cemented the gloves after some fine performances behind the stumps. A real consistent performer.
Martin Dunnett
Nick Dunnett
Robert Dunnett
Rohan Francis
One of many bowling all-rounders in the 1st team Rohan offers a great range of slower balls when opening the bowling. A live wire in the field, Rohan is capable of pulling off some remarkable catches and also playing some astonishing shots with the bat. He is also a grade 8 pianist.
Rufus Francis
Rufus is never shy in offering advice to the skipper and his knowledge of the game and tactical genius has been the reason for many wickets over the years and has helped turn games from losing positions into wins. When asked to bowl Rufus will never disappoint offering up a variety of deliveries with Monty-like enthusiasm. Rufus is a steady lower order batsman who loves the challenge of batting out for a draw, he is also very accomplished when driving and without him, sons Rohan, Richard and nephew Shane would never make it to the games on time.
Saad Ghaus
Jacob Holden
Michael Hubbard
Robert Hubbard
Nabeel Hussain
Shabaz Hussain
Easily the most classy batsman in the team, Shabz makes the game look effortless at times. Has a love of run scoring and a fine spinner too. Huge part of the teams success his recent years.
Riyan Iqbal
Shahid Jamil
Shane Janjua
Big hitting top order batsman Shane burst onto the scene in 2008 with a quick fire 90 to get the Heath’s Twenty20 campaign off to a winning start. Known for his laid back attitude on and off the field and also for his heavy bats Shane is always willing to share his famous willows with anyone in need of some batting assistance. Shane is captain for the Sunday XI.
James Medforth
Mustafa Mirza
Sannan Mohammad
A small Chanderpaul like figure, Sannan plays a vital role in accumulating runs at the top of the order. Some would say he has “more blocks than Legoland” and “more leaves than a tree” , however his grit and determination along with his elegant strokeplay is just what a batting line up full of big hitters requires. He is also a more than a handy fielder and will always do a job with ball in hand he will use his pace when called upon.
Tayyab Qazi
Haroon Raja
Shamus Raja
With a team full of all-rounders Raja is probably the most versatile of the bunch. Batting at the top, middle or even lower order Raja never looks out of place. Bowling 80mph off 10 yards or spinning the ball a yard (off two bounces) he is often the go to bowler when things are not going to plan. One aspect Raja must look to improve on is his ground fielding however he more than makes up for this with a throwing arm that the great Walter Johnson would have been proud of.
Zeeshan Tirmizi
“Pro”, “Superstar”, “Amla”, "Rana" are just a few of the names thrown about when describing Zee. He has played for a number of clubs throughout England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales however always returns to the club that he has a soft spot for. Zee is the fastest first change bowler in the league with the slowest over rate and an aggressive middle order batsman with a healthy strike rate.
Lahiru Weerasinghe
Medium pace bowler, lower order batsman.
Hassan Zeb
Full of potential, 'the Hass man' never fails to disappoint! Hassan is often called upon to slow the oppositions run rate when bowling and to up the batting run rate with willow in hand. However the opposite is usually the reality...
