Bentley Heath Cricket Club 2nd XI squad
2nd XI
Captain :
Dave Tagg
Appointed 2XI captain in 2013 after a year as vice skipper. Free scoring opening batsman and safe pair of hands in the slips. Never short of something to say......!
Vice Captain :
Matt Bird
A true all rounder, birdy has become a real mainstay of 2XI. A dependable top order batsman with a healthy average. It is birdy's bowling which has really come to the fore, bagging 36 wickets in 2014. The teams vice captain and the class act in the field.
Players
Shammika Ahangama
Shon Alishah
Chetan Bakrania
Khuram Butt
Special K is an absolute one off! Mainly used as a bowler, k's ability to move the ball at pace is a real asset in the lower leagues. Has the ability to strike a long ball and score freely with the bat. Always gives 100% but certainly has a unique fielding style!
Craig Collis
Youngest in the long line of Collis' at Bentley Heath. A wicket keeper/Batsman who has cemented the gloves after some fine performances behind the stumps. A real consistent performer.
David Collis
Long time club member, Dave has returned after several years away from the club. A strong, talented opening batsman who has a wealth of experience. Patient, determined type, Dave is a proper batsman who is often the first in and last out. An important figure in the teams recent success.
Arpan Desai
Arpi has been consistently the best bowler for the 2XI over the past 3 seasons. On his day, completely unplayable. Another fantastic fielder who has shown a talent with the bat when in the mood. Has struggled with injuries but never disappoints when in th side.
Nick Dunnett
Zach Goddard
Dinuka Hewawasam
Shabaz Hussain
Easily the most classy batsman in the team, Shabz makes the game look effortless at times. Has a love of run scoring and a fine spinner too. Huge part of the teams success his recent years.
Shane Janjua
Big hitting top order batsman Shane burst onto the scene in 2008 with a quick fire 90 to get the Heath’s Twenty20 campaign off to a winning start. Known for his laid back attitude on and off the field and also for his heavy bats Shane is always willing to share his famous willows with anyone in need of some batting assistance. Shane is captain for the Sunday XI.
Darshan Jayakumar
Terry Jones
A loyal long term member of the 2s, Terry is one of the few old guard to still remain. Year after year he has held onto his place in the side. Now more of a bowler, his unusual style causes the undoing of many. Still a handy lower order batsman who is often used as the skippers go to man.
Namal Karunatilake
James Medforth
Foz Mirza
A sunday player that occasionally appears in the league. A good off side batsman who can score runs when needed. Also bowls left arm spin, with the change of angle often causing the undoing of many.
Mustafa Mirza
Luke Peace
Luke has very quickly established himself as the star player of bentley heath 2XI. A hugely talented top order batsman, who scores at a destructive strike rate. Has the ability to bowl seam and is a quality close in fielder. An absolute game changer.
Senura Perera
Joe Radley
Despite a tough run of form with the bat, Joe's place in the middle order has been cemented for several years. A strong attacking batsman, with buckets loads of ability. A real team player and the finest gully fielder you could ever hope to find.
Anura Rajapaksa
Dylan Ransi
The boy with a really long run-up but got dropped 3 times in a friendly match.
Lee Riley
Aashish Sharma
Momin Siddiqui
Rory Stoves
The frontline spinner of the side, Stoves always seems to grab wickets in every spell. Struggles for consistency at times but a very thoughtful bowler, who can give it a rip. Takes huge pride in his batting too. Another big character in the team.
Oscar Ward
Lahiru Weerasinghe
Medium pace bowler, lower order batsman.
David Wilson
Mature player who has had a history of playing for friendly sides but I did play some club cricket but at 2nd XI only.
Hassan Zeb
Full of potential, 'the Hass man' never fails to disappoint! Hassan is often called upon to slow the oppositions run rate when bowling and to up the batting run rate with willow in hand. However the opposite is usually the reality...
